    Health care is serious in Canada, however our Government continues to cut health care budgets, while pharmaceutical companies are making billions of dollars in profits every year with dangerous and ineffective medicines.

    Cannabis is a viable medication in treating several conditions where pharmaceutical products are proven ineffective. Many patients sent home to suffer and die from their chronic illness, are today living life to its fullest thanks to the medicinal benefits of cannabis. However, it comes at a cost. Cannabis is not covered by insurance companies...not to mention Health Canada provides patients with excuses after excuses as to why there are delays to accessing their program to legally possess cannabis, not to mention the lack of doctors to step up and sign for patients to access the program. Patients are often forced to the black market for their medication. A black market that would not exist if cannabis was legalized and regulated.

    Patients continue to suffer.

    Many patients are not aware that the Federal program exists, and those who are, are faced with the stress of being arrested or incarcerated for medicating while they await proper licensing and paperwork to come in. Often facing delays from Health Canada that is to no fault of their own. Out of a population of almost 35 million, at most, 15,000 are taking advantage of the program. Compare this with California, with a population of 37 million, where there are over 750,000 registered medicinal cannabis patients.

    The Conservative Government is attacking the Medical Marihuana Access program that many patients in this country rely on. They have implemented laws such as the Omnibus Crime Bill that puts patients at risk.

    Patients, growers, activists and advocates alike are pulling together to provide information to the masses on the necessity of legalizing this plant that holds so many benefits and uses not to mention its potential of sustaining our economy. However, we must first remove the stigma to do so. The false propaganda that the governments have spewed over the past 70+years has reaped havoc.

    At a time when most municipalities in the Okanagan have joined up with Stop The Violence BC and endorsed the legalization of cannabis to bring an end to a War on Drugs that does NOT work, our city council of Kelowna is working against it! Kelowna's RCMP has recently created a Drug Task Force that will be at work in the area busting down doors in search of cannabis EVEN IF YOU'RE A PATIENT. Supporting the Harper government in an attempt to fill the prisons and rip apart families for a "non-violent & victimless crime". While real criminals are fighting in public streets with gunfire in broad daylight over real drugs such as cocaine and heroin....putting our citizens, tourists and children at risk.

    Studies have shown that this War on Drugs is not working. The proof is out there and the statistics are in and yet, our Mayor Gray and his council refused to accept facts. Our children are looking at having their futures ripped away from them, ending up with criminal records and facing jail time....for passing a joint. Hence, destroying any chance at a productive futur over a victimless crime.

    Mayor Gray has said that he feels cannot make the decision of endorsing legalization at this time because he is a new mayor. Mayor Gray was previously mayor of Kelowna for 9 years. He says he needs to know more on the subject, however when invited to public information session, he does not show.Walter Gray, Mayor of the City of Kelowna, and retired radio station owner, was born in Victoria, BC on September 4, 1940. His family moved to Kelowna in 1946 and in 1957 he graduated from Kelowna Secondary School. As any other BC resident he is very much aware of cannabis and its many uses.

    What Mr. Gray does not seem to be aware of is that the CEO of the Medicinal Cannabis Patients Alliance of Canada, as well as the Chapter Leader for Moms for Marijuana Canada live in the city of Kelowna.

    WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE CANNABIS TO SUPPORT THE LEGALIZATION OF CANNABIS....MUCH AS...YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE CANCER TO SUPPORT CANCER PATIENTS. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE CONCERNED FOR THE FUTUR OF YOUR FUTUR, THAT OF YOUR CHILDREN & THEIR CHILDREN.

    REMEMBER, MILLIONS HAVE DIED FROM ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO....NOTHING IS EVER DONE ABOUT IT...AND IT REMAINS LEGAL!

    CANNABIS = 0 DEATHS....IN ALL OF ITS 5000 DOCUMENTED YEARS.....O DEATHS AND IT'S ILLEGAL.

    KELOWNA'S CITY COUNCILS' ACTION IS A DIRECT ATTACK ON US ALL AND OUR FREEDOM OF RIGHTS...IT IS A DIRECT ATTACK ON YOU.

    SHOW YOUR SUPPORT by joining the MEDICINAL CANNABIS PATIENTS ALLIANCE OF CANADA and MOMS FOR MARIJUANA CANADA ~ BRITISH COLUMBIA ~ OKANAGAN.

    We will be meeting at the "Sails" on the corner of Abbott Street and Bernard Avenue at 3:30pm every Saturday in May. From there we will be walking to City Hall for the 4:20 smoke out.

    PLEASE SHARE

    THIS WITH OTHERS FROM OTHER MUNICIPALITIES....THE MORE PEOPLE TO SHOW UP AT THE EVENT THE BETTER CHANCE WE HAVE A CHANGE.
